The Road is Very Long

Just some shots of Colorado from the car and while stopping to get out and stretch. Then there is Mikayla at our home for the night. Working on her journal and there is the cottonwood stuff in the picture. Can you see it?

There was a lot of road in front of us today.

We left Moab and got a beautiful scenic drive right next to the Colorado River. If we would have known you could camp there I think that we would have. It was so cool to drive right next to the river and see people rafting, it was really an awe inspiring drive. Then we really hit the road to head into Colorado. The scenery in Colorado is wonderful but the traffic, road construction and painting of the highway isn't the best.

We stopped and had lunch in Vail and Mikayla loves it there. We both would love to be there but I don't think she really knows what it is like to live with that much snow. We could still see snow by some of the lifts and the run off is still happening.

We made it all the way to Loveland, CO and have already pitched the tent for the night. We made a quick stop by the pool (which isn't heated) and didn't last too long in the cool water. It just felt good to rinse off after being in the car all day.

Can't wait to get a warm shower and get some dinner. It might be an early night again, it really gets dark when you have no electricity:) But the flashlights are wonderful and they attract the greatest bugs as well.

Right now we have these nasty little green things jumping and landing on things and then the cottonwood trees are loosing their cotton. It really looks like it is snowing. I tried to take a photo but you couldn't see it in the picture, it will just look like I was lying about it:)

As of tonight we have traveled 958 miles. Eddie is doing wonderful and the camp sites have been great:) Really can't beat having a hot shower when you are camping.

I finally got some pictures of the first day. I will try for yesterday, so look back at the last couple of days.

Love you all and will talk to you soon.

Tomorrow we are heading up to Cheyenne and then into South Dakota. I think that we are aiming for the Wind Caves to spend the night and then go to the caves the next morning. We will just have to wait and see what time we get there and what is going on.

  2. Incredible pictures! I love them. Glad to see Mikayla writing in her journal! Think about having them stamp your journal as well as the Park passports (just a thought). You two are making great strides. Remember to stay an extra day someplace if you want to just to get some rest. Love you both, Mom/Nana

  3. Wow, cool pics. Matt says to make sure you drive the "Pigtails" road near Mount Rushmore (sounds scary to me) and Bear country also near Rapid City. Drive through Bear Park. Matt says it's Awesome. There's also some splunking (sp?) near Bear Country.
We are heading to Disneyland in one week! (That'll be different, not!)
    Love you!
PS: Check your email...it's a long one.
