Today we went to Natural Bridges and to Arches National Park.
The drive to Natural Bridges is not one that I would recommend (at least the way that we went). We went through Mexican Hat and then it leads you to 3 miles of switch backs that seems to be going straight up. I was driving in the middle of the road because I was scared to be too close to the edge. I asked Mikayla if I could get over farther and she wouldn't even look for me. She was scared to. She said that she didn't like being able to see just how far away the ground really was. Once passed that the knots in stomaches finally went away. :)
Natural Bridges was very cool, we saw 3 bridges and drove 9.2 mile loop to get to them. The last one, Owachomo, we walked the 1/2 mile down to it. It is 180 feet across and 106 feet hight. It was so cool to be standing underneath it.
We also picked up our National Park Passports and got our very first stamp in our books. We were so excited.
We then took off for Moab and the Arches National Park. When we arrived we found out that the campground was already full. We located a place that we could stay after we were done with the park so all was well. We decided to go to the Delicate Arch and then Fiery Furnace and then work our way back to the entrance of the park. It actually didn't take as long as we thought. (We initally thought that we would be going back tomorrow morning.) But we saw so much and took a ton of pictures, it was amazing. We got to see the Balancing Rock, Ham Rock, Garden of Eden, Window Rocks (North and South), Turret Arch, Double Arch, 3 Gossips, and so many more that we started to name then ourselves.
It is an absolutely amazing park that is just breath taking. I really wish that I had a camera that could take a wider photo to get everything in it.
Sounds like an incredible day, all except that first road. Not exactly my cup of tea, but you both know that already. I probably would have gotten out and walked . . . . or not. Can't wait to see pictures. Lots and lots of pictures. Love you both, Mom/Nana
ReplyDeleteGood Morning, can't wait to see pictures. It sounds like you guys are having a lot of fun except the road to get there. Scott called to check in on your progress to WA. He said you guys can follow them to the beach when you get there and stay a night if you like. Don't forget to call on fathers day. Remember that we will all be at grandpa Dales'. Love you and miss you...mom, dad, kendra, lady, rico & sam
